Upon logging in to the PCI Reading Program Level One, user gets a message that says 'Database Error Occurred, Attempt To Write Only Database'. |
| Resolution: |
Student privileges are not allowed to write to the database. Change the privileges to allow Read/Write for the user.
To check these settings, go to:
1. My Computer (or Computer)>> Local Disc (C:)>> Program Files (PCI Reading Program could be listed here, if not find 'PCI Education' folder and open it to locate PCI Reading Program program).
2. Open PCI Reading Program.
3. Right click on 'user.v12' and go down to 'Properties'.
4. Find 'Attributes' at the bottom.
5. 'Read-Only' should not be checked. If it is checked, uncheck it, click 'Apply', and then click on 'OK'.

First, make sure all your computer hardware drivers are up-to-date. If you still encounter this error message after updating all your hardware drivers, the error is most likely the result of a hardware conflict with the software. Check your soundcard. If your sound card is SoundMax or any other type of integrated sound card, do the following:
1. Click on the START button
2. Click on the Control Panel
3. Click on the Sounds and Audio Devices icon
4. Click on the Audio tab
5. Under Sound Playback, click on Advanced
6. In the Advanced menu, click on the Performance tab
7. Under Hardware acceleration, set the slider to either 'Emulation Only' or 'Basic Acceleration' |

At the login screen, press Ctrl + Enter simultaneously. This combination works whether you are selecting a student name or not. If nothing occurs after pressing the keys, update the flash player on your system. |
